Good morning Vikings and Friends!
Happy Earth Day! Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and the 5thanniversary of Pope Francis’ amazing encyclical Laudato Si.
Both Earth Day and Laudato Si challenge our views, beliefs, and even way of life as Americans. While there is certainly room for different opinions and perspectives, Pope Francis has obligated us all to scrutinize the way we live by linking our treatment of the planet to our treatment of the poor and vulnerable people of the world.
For today’s nature break, I encourage you to read this article about 10 Catholic Ways to Celebrate Earth Day. It’s not quite so much about recycling and planting bean sprouts as you may think. We can each do every one of these 10 things from the comfort of our own home. And God willing, we may change the world in better ways than the first Earth Day participants could have ever imagined.
Happy adventuring!
